At the age of 7 Mark Harris was given an unexpected gift by his father. “I remember asking my dad to draw a picture of a horse,” he says. “My father not being very artistic quickly scribbled out what looked like a box on 4 stilts.” “I said this doesn’t look like a horse.” Mark’s father instructed him to find a picture of a horse he liked and draw it until it looked like the picture. “I had no idea what he was giving me at the time and I don’t think he did either,” Harris says. What Mark’s father gave him was the gift of art.
Self taught as an artist Mark makes exceptional use of color and composition in his paintings. His keen eye and ability to create strong, beautiful, contemporary images have helped him develop a following. His work is included in private and corporate collections from the San Francisco Bay Area, to Chicago to Atlanta.
